We are seeking help in outsourcing simple CAD work.
We supply 2D floor plans of residential property to the estate agency market in the UK. We have been trading since 1992.
We have employed students part time and this has worked very well.
We now want to recruit people full time from different time zones to work for us free-lance to help us meet increasing demand for our services.
You will need to have a basic working knowledge of Mac OS X and ideally
be familiar with at least one CAD or drawing application. A stable and
reasonable internet connection, with a 500K upload speed per minute
would be fine. Obviously you need some English language skills but we do not require fluency.
(We may be willing to supply a Mac computer fully configured after a
successful probationary period.) Ideally a 2 monitor set-up is better as one
can be used to view a sketch on-screen and the other for the actual
cad drawing. This means a printer would not be required.
This work does not require degree level education. More important
is aptitude and a good work ethic. An equivalent job
would be junior CAD technician or below.
You will be fully self-employed so you will need to take care of your own
tax and other legal requirements. We will pay monthly via bank transfer
or other on-line payment system. We will guarantee a minimum amount of
work each month.
For you the advantages will be that there is no travelling time or costs
in getting to work, you can work flexible hours (though we obviously
expect allocated work to be done within specified time frames).
Our biggest challenge is finding people who a) can do this work, b) want
to do this work c) are available and d) have the resources.
If you are interested please use the Contacts Page and tell us a little about yourself, why you are interested in working with Making Plans and what you think you can contribute. If you know anybody else you think might be suited and interested in
this opportunity we
would greatly appreciate you passing this on to them.
Here is some feedback from previous employees:
Kate Simpson - student
Working for Making Plans has been excellent during my time at university and
beyond. The team are great to work with and take a philosophical
approach to human resource management allowing for flexible working
hours which can fit around studies or other commitments. It has also
provided me with valuable experience relative to my building surveying
degree. This has been hugely beneficial during graduate interviews. I
would recommend working for Making Plans to anybody with a keen eye for
detail and with a good level of motivation whilst working from home.
Drawing plans is enjoyable and enables the employee to listen to music
of their choice during work hours which is a huge plus point for me!
Mirek Krivanek - student
I worked for Making Plans part time from March 2008 to July 2010 whilst
studying a bachelor degree at Leeds Metropolitan University. My position
in the company was a drawer of plans using CAD software for real estate
agents. Michael Gilbert along with all associates are friendly and
always ready to help when needed. I was given all necessary support for
my work. I have learnt a lot during the period of two years from the use
of new software to collaboration with work colleagues.
I am happy to recommend Making Plans as an employer. I would not
hesitate to apply for a job with Making Plans if I ever came back to
England. (Mirek is once again working with us from Czech)
Matt Horwood – Full time
I worked for Making Plans for seven years and found them to be a
rewarding, educational and fulfilling employer. I received excellent
on-job training. It was a pleasure to work for a company where the
development of the employee was seen as being just as important as the
output they provided. This led to relaxed and cooperative working
conditions where ideas could be put forward for improving and developing
the way in which Makings Plans worked.
The company gave me the space to expand and the skills I learnt there, both technical and human, will always have value. |
